Harvey was a good friend and a good man. It was always an easier shift at Pence's North in our senior year when Harvey was on the same schedule. When an older guy decided I needed a punch in the eye at a graduation party it was Harvey that made sure I was OK and able to get home.

Harvey was the driving force behind the Veterans' Memorial on the Franklin County Courthouse grounds. I remember thinking what a difficult project that would be when he first told me about the idea, but he wouldn't be denied. From getting government approval through fundraising, construction and dedication of the memorial Harvey sustained the effort and momentum required. I'll always think of the memorial as commemorating his service and dedication in particular, as well as honoring all of his fellow verans whose names are inscribed there.

I'm so sorry to hear of Harvey's passing.  He was a good friend from grade school on.  I'l never forget his dogged determination to be a great distance runner, even to the point of shaving his eyebrows mto cut wind resistance.  I hope he's back to running the mile again.  Ron Lloyd

Great friend, teammate, fellow veteran. Harvey gave so much. I am so moved by the passing of any of our classmates. Harvey was special. He left the world a better place.

I can't say more about Harv than what has already been said by Tom, Ron and Dud. I'm so grateful to have known him and called him my friend.  In high school I once commented to my mom that as much as I appreciated her coming to our track meets, even many of the out of town ones, to watch me run, that it was really too much trouble for her to do so. She replied "Honey, I wouldn't miss coming to your track meets, but what I really enjoy is watching Harvey Nicholson run the mile".  Thanks, Mom, that was a real confidence booster.  :)  Truth is, everyone on the team enjoyed it, too.

There will a reserved section for track team members as well as a section reserved for classmates of Harvey at the service Iif you can make. Diane has been very appreciative of the cards and letters and concern for Harvey during his illness.
