Dennis Gene Barnes   Born: April 24, 1947   Died: July 28, 2009 Dennis passed away at age 62 on July 28, 2009 in Sacramento. A native of Ottawa, KS, born April 24, 1947 to Elta Mae and Robert Eugene Barnes. He attended schools in Ottawa. Dennis joined the Navy from 1966 to 1970 attaining the rank of Petty Officer Second Class serving during the Vietnam War. He was trained and skilled in upholstery work by his father and could accomplish any job that he was challenged with. His last employment was with Four Wheel Campers in Woodland where he upholstered interiors for camper shells. Dennis was employed with the government as a rigger/diver for 30 years working at Mare Island Naval Shipyard and Bremerton Naval Shipyard and finally retiring in 2004. We miss and love you and know that now you are in heaven. A special thanks to the nurses, doctors, and staff of Kaiser in Sacramento for the total care that he received while there. Friends and family are invited to attend the Memorial Mass, Saturday, August 8, 2009 at 11:00 AM at St. James Catholic Church, 125 Sonoma Mountain Pkwy., Petaluma. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Crohns and Colitis Foundation of America, 386 Park Ave. S., 17th Fl., New York, NY 10016 or your favorite charity. He met his wife Lori from Petaluma on a blind date because he was looking for someone to take to his Christmas Diving Dinner. They have lived in Petaluma, Poulsbo, WA, last Woodland and have been together for 29 years.
