Marcia Jo Hammond, 68, of Starkville, MS, passed away on July 20, 2017 after a sudden illness.  A celebration of life will be held at Lake Kiowa, TX on a date TBA.  Friends and family will be notified at a later date.  Final arragements are being handled by Welch Funeral Home in Starkville.  Marcia was born in Ottawa, Kansas on October 14,1948.  She graduated from Ottawa High School and continued on to receive a Bachelor of Business Administration from Emporia State University.  Marcia was a member of Gainesville Bible Church in Texas.  Marcia was married to Michael Hammond, PGA Head Professional at MSU Golf Course on May 24, 1990 in Garden City, KS;  they were maried 27 years.  They spent 2 years in Little Rock,  AR, 14 years in Winfield, KS, 9 years in Lake Kiowa, TX and most recently Starkville, MS.  Marcia was retired, but loved her part time job at Lake Kiowa Pro Shop.  Marcia enjoyed playing golf with her friends and husband, she also enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and most recently Facebook.  Marcia is survived by her husband, Mike, daughter Somer Patterson from Starkville, brother Richard (wife Mary) Allen from Topeka, KS, three nephews and other family and many friends.  Marcia is preceded in death by her parents Marshall and Minnie Allen, Ottawa,KS and brother Robert Allen, Omaha,NE.  You can leave the family a condolence at:  www.welchfuneralhomes.com.
