Obituary for Linda Renee Engles-Coelho

Linda Renee Engles-Coelho died peacefully on May 10th,2023, at the Friendship Village Hospice of the Valley in Tempe, Arizona after a 10-month battle with colon cancer.

Renee was born on August 20th,1948, in Monett, Missouri. After moving to Ottawa, Kansas she attended Garfield Elementary School, Ottawa Junior High and Senior High School. After High School, Renee attended Nursing School in Springfield, Missouri, then entered the computer industry as an entry level keypunch operator. She took several IBM-based classes and over the years worked her way into programming, moving into the HP3000 platform in the late ‘70s. She worked for large corporations in San Francisco (TransAmerica) and in Los Angeles where she also attended UC Fullerton, receiving her Bachelor of Science degree. Her final move was to Phoenix, Arizona. The last 7 years of her career were spent as a software consultant. 

Renee was a force of nature to everyone who met her; funny and opinionated with a huge heart. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Renee is survived by her daughter Linda Dannette Engles-Gustason and stepdaughter Mary Grace Coelho. She was preceded in death by her twin sister Carol Renetta Engels-Unzicker, her beloved mother Mildred Willis-Engels, and her father Robert J. Engles.

During her 10-month cancer battle she was comforted and supported by her friend Dennis Paul.
